within the Veterans Integrated Service Network, Region 2, which
includes all facilities in New York and New Jersey. Prospective

VA Health Care Network (VISN 2) consists of Albany, Bath, Bronx,
Canandaigua, Northport, Syracuse, VA Hudson Valley Health Care
System (HCS), VA New Jersey HCS, VA New York Harbor HCS and the
Western New York Health Care System (Buffalo and Batavia) and 46
community based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). VISN 2 serves more than
500,000 veterans in 76 counties in New York, New Jersey and
Pennsylvania offering a wide range of comprehensive inpatient and
outpatient medical services. Services include primary and specialty
care, nursing home care, mental health and rehabilitation services,
and domiciliary care. VISN 2 medical centers are affiliated with
numerous colleges and universities in New York and New Jersey.The
selected candidate will follow established guidelines, ethics, and
policies and protocols of the Department of Veterans Affairs, their
assigned station(s) and the profession. The specific duties of the
position will be determined by the actual vacancy for which you are
referred and will be discussed at the time of interview.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Part-Time, Intermittent

all requirements are met.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed
when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance
with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting
from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The
degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by
the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course
of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or
surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United
States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved
by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core
specialty training program leading to eligibility for board
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board Certified/Board Eligible
Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II,
Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in
the local Human Resources Office.
Physical Requirements: Light lifting (under 15 lbs), light carrying
(under 15 lbs), use of fingers, far vision correctable in one eye
to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other, hearing (aid permitted), emotional
stability, mental stability.
