Radiology Technologist is responsible for obtaining diagnostic
radiographic examination at a technical level not requiring
constant supervision and performs all of the essential generic
functions as listed below. ResponsibilitiesA day in the life of a
Radiology Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Healthincludes:
Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning
patients, providing immobilization devices, selection of proper
technical factors based on individual patient needs. Selects and
operates equipment as required for specific procedures. 2.
Restricts radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to
provide non-exposure of radiation to unaffected parts of the
patient. 3. Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms,
operating rooms and emergency rooms. 4. Follows operational
procedures to identify patient's images with name and x-ray number,
correctly marking image with the side of the patient taken. 5.
Maintains orderly procedure room, ensuring area is clean, sanitized
and appropriately stocked. 6. Prepares radiopaque contrast media
and assists physician in administering radiopaque mixtures to
patient. 7. Performs administrative duties related to scheduling
appointments, patients instructions, maintenance of records,
reception of patients and other administrative duties as required.
8. Renders services and/or assistance to all patients depending on
the individual patient's needs and abilities in moving, turning,
getting on and off the x-ray tables, etc. 9. Identifies the needs
of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care
that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language,
hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes
communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver at
their level (developmental, age, educational, and literacy). 10.
Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 11. Adheres to HMH
Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
QualificationsEducation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Graduate from accredited school of Radiologic Technology Licenses
and Certifications Required: American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists Certification. 2. NJDEP License 3. BLS within 30 days
