Business Area is looking for a software engineering lead for the
TacAir product line. In that role you will be responsible for all
the software development efforts that are being executed within the
product line, including staffing, technical, schedule and cost.
This will be accomplished through engineers that reports directly
to you and their direct reports and software engineers reporting to
other section leads and / or located at another site. As a
functional supervisor, you will advocate for your software
engineering staff through career planning, training, timely
performance feedback, formal performance appraisals, program
staffing, and application of Software Engineering process and best
practices. This is a multi-faceted position where your
management/supervisory duties will account for approximately 30% of
your time and your software engineering program tasks will account
for the remaining 70%.In this role:
- You are a functional supervisor with 12 - 15 direct reports.
Your direct staff will include project Software Engineering Leads
(SWELs), individual contributors and section leads.
- You will ensure that the TacAir programs are performing within
their defined budgets and schedules.
- You will be required to support the technical design,
development, integration and release of our Electronic Warfare
software development efforts that are being executed out of the
TacAir Product Line.
- You will provide guidance, support, and coaching to your
functional group through regular employee one-on-ones
- You will attract, engage, and retain high potential employees
to support the program area
- You will oversee software staffing for your product line,
including candidate interviews, hiring decisions, and new hire
onboarding. Foster partnerships with other software leads to
identify and allocate internal engineering resources to drive
program success.
- You will develop employee goals, monitor employee performance,
provide performance feedback and support group compensation
management
- You will identify and develop critical skills that align with
your employees' interests and are required to meet program area
business objectives
- You will provide effective communication - flow down / flow up
within your group.
- You will help drive performance for your group by supporting
Program Managers, Project Engineering Managers (PEMs) / Chief
Engineers, staffing and monitoring execution on projects, and
helping to resolve technical and personnel issues
- You will help ensure that programs follow company and program
processes
- You will contribute to continuous improvement activities to
improve the software engineering organization and the company at
large and ensure adoption within the organization
- You will monitor software execution on programs through
performance metrics, execution reviews, and meeting with SW leads
routinely.Because this role involves a combination of
collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form
of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and
remotely.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Active/current Secret clearance with ability to acquire a Top
Secret clearance
- Previous or current experience as a people manager
- Successful engineering management experience encompassing
technical, cost, schedule and quality topics
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills which
facilitate working with others in a team environment
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science or
Engineering related discipline with 8+ years of experience after
the date for the completion of your Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years
of experience after the date for the completion of your Master's
Degree
- Software engineering background and leadership experience that
includes leading small (
- People management experience with proven performance
management, mentoring, coaching, and communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to interface with
senior internal personnel on significant community matters, often
requiring coordination between organizations
- Demonstrated experience exhibiting inclusive leadership
behaviors to create and reinforce a psychologically safe team
environmentPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills Knowledge of,
and experience in, the architecture, design and integration of EW
SystemsPay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $150370 -
$255630Please note: This range is based on our market pay
structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a
variety of factors including, but not limited to: business
considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as
