An Azure DevOps Specialist has specialized knowledge in Azure
and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), combined with excellent
interpersonal skills, and will help to design, deliver, and enhance
Markel's internal cloud offering on a global stage.
We are a leading global Fortune 500 Insurer, and we are looking
for innovative and technically motivated individuals to help drive
forward our cloud strategy.
Working within the Cloud Strategy and Engineering team you will
help Markel to leverage Azure, assisting our internal customers on
a global basis, building a centre of excellence for Cloud IaC, and
growing our cloud service offering.
Your role will be split into development, support, and delivery.
You will work across all facets of Azure, from undertaking IaC
build and configuration work, to designing security solutions, and
supporting the rollout of new cloud architectures.
Working closely with development teams, IT security, Enterprise
Architecture, and DevOps, you will have the opportunity to consult,
assist, and even lead the design of cloud solutions and IaC

What we are looking for
- Must be technically hands-on and have some experience in
building/provisioning Azure cloud environments.
- Good understanding of Azure IaaS and PaaS services.
- Knowledge of build tools such as Azure DevOps and Jenkins.
- Experience in developing with at least one of the following
languages: Python, C#, or Java.
What you'll do
- Develop automation for complex Azure environments including
dynamic resource provisioning using Terraform .
- Assist and support teams across the globe to build and deploy
solutions to the cloud, including managing multiple deployments
projects for multiple internal customers.
- Work closely with IT Security, Compliance, and Architecture to
ensure that all cloud solutions are secure by design and secure by
practice. This includes helping to build-out the Markel Cloud
- Act as a master trouble-shooter and SME in IaC and Azure.
- Execute POCs and feasibility studies to validate next-gen
product concepts and technologies through leveraging the cloud and
the team's service offering.
- Keep abreast of and gain expertise in the evolving technology
and understand how new technologies could be applied to the Markel
- Support the DevOps and cloud adoption for our internal
customers and assist in the review of the current and proposed
architecture and design deliverables.
- Work closely with our partners, such as Microsoft, to help
drive cloud adoption and exploit opportunities.
- Help drive the evolution of the CSE team from engagement,
governance, service, and operational perspectives.
- Use the latest tools for IaC (Terraform 0.13+ etc), CloudBees
(Jenkins), and gain direct exposure to key Azure Services including
