A Licensed Practical Nurse is a professional member of the
healthcare team who provides skilled nursing care to patients in
compliance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of clinical
practice. A LPN works under the direction of a facility supervising
Registered Nurse and/or Physician.
Adheres to the policies and procedures of the facility/unit
Possesses the knowledge and skill necessary to provide
appropriate care for patients assigned by the facility/unit
Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and
Conducts ongoing assessments as determined by patient’s condition
and/or the client facility’s policies, procedures or protocols and
reprioritizes care accordingly.
Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an
accurate and timely manner.
Documents patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial
responses to nursing intervention and progress towards problem
Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and
client facility staff.
Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel during each
Supervision of LPN staff is managed by facility personnel.
Graduate of accredited LPN Program
Current active license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in
the state of placement
At least one (1) year of experience as an LPN in the United States
Current CPR certification. Evidence of BLS and all additional
required credentials specific to nurse specialty and as designated
Provide care using infection control measures that protect both the
staff and the patient according to OSHA standards.
Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching,
Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment
Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which
may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and infectious
