Job Description:

Essential Functions:



Efficiently control the operation of the Plant's Refrigeration System and Chilled Water System including all attendant support systems.



Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Through the use of all Control Room and/or local controls and instrumentation, monitor, track and make all required adjustments to Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Ammonia Refrigeration System and the Chilled Water System.
  • Perform all visual inspections, testing and documentation preparation as required by the appropriate Governmental authorities or as otherwise may be required by Nestle.
  • Perform all Work Orders as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain a daily communication link to production supervisors on all shifts to prevent unforeseen/unscheduled situations.



    • Coordinate all maintenance activities to be done by Nestle Maintenance personnel or outside vendors, contractors, or suppliers. In the event an "evacuation" procedure is required prior to maintenance being done, the evacuation procedure will be done by either the assigned Nestle maintenance personnel or by the assigned vendors/ suppliers/ contractors under the direction of the Nestle Gold Seal Engineer or by other licensed Nestle personnel, other than the licensed Ammonia Engineers working in the Ammonia Engine Room, unless the equipment to be evacuated is within the confines of the Ammonia Engine Room, in which case the evacuation can be done under the direction of the licensed Ammonia Engineer working in the Ammonia Engine Room.
    • Perform all housekeeping duties in the Ammonia Engine Room necessary to maintain all work areas at a level of sanitation consistent with Nestle standards.
    • Follow safety guidelines for equipment usage and operational procedures, i.e. tank entry/confined space, lock-out/tag-out, WOMA high pressure unit, and handling of hazardous materials.
    • Perform all lubrication of equipment in the Ammonia Engine Room.
    • Perform all other duties as required or directed by supervision.
    • Train or assist with the training of other personnel as required.
    • Perform or assist with repairs to refrigeration related equipment in routine & breakdown situations
    • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by management




      Measurement of Position Performance:



      The effectiveness of the licensed Ammonia Engineer will be measured in the following manner:


      • Production needs for Refrigeration and Chilled Water are met on an uninterrupted basis throughout the year.
      • Refrigeration equipment is run in the most economical fashion.
      • All assigned Work Orders are satisfactorily completed in the allotted time.
      • All required documentation is completed accurately and on a timely basis.
      • All coordination work with mechanics or outside suppliers/vendors/contractors is done safely and on a timely basis.
      • The Ammonia Engine Room is maintained at a level of sanitation consistent with Nestle standards.
      • All equipment in the Ammonia Engine Room is properly lubricated.






        Position Goals

        The licensed Ammonia Engineer has the following primary goals:


        • Ensure production needs for Refrigeration and Chilled Water are met on an uninterrupted basis throughout the year.
        • Ensure refrigeration equipment is run in the most economical fashion.
        • Ensure all assigned Work Orders are satisfactorily completed in the allotted time.
        • Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and on a timely basis.
        • Ensure all coordination work with mechanics or outside suppliers/vendors/contractors is done safely and on a timely basis.
        • Ensure the Ammonia Engine Room is maintained at a level of sanitation consistent with Nestle standards.
        • Ensure all equipment in the Ammonia Engine Room is properly lubricated.




          Qualifications:



          The licensed Ammonia Engineer must possess the following qualifications:




          • Must have a high school diploma or GED or 5 years coffee or tea processing experience.
          • Must possess a Blue Seal Refrigeration Engineers License 2C. (Red Seal preferred. Blue Seal candidate will be excepted obtain a Red Seal License)
          • Minimum 2 years operating an R717 anhydrous ammonia refrigeration system.
          • Must be RETA certified.
          • Must have an understanding of basic mechanical skills.
          • Must possess sufficient computer skills to operate equipment automatically and be able to complete Work Orders.
          • Must be able to work well with others as a team member.
          • Must maintain Cold Room qualification.
          • Must maintain Hazmat Technician Level Certification.




            Qualification Period:



            180 days



            Safety & Environmental Responsibilities



            The Ammonia Engineers shall follow:




            • Freehold factory safety & environmental objectives & targets
            • Follow the plant safety rules, report incidents & unsafe conditions immediately
            • Maintain compliance with regulations
            • Refer to the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) on all related procedures and programs
