Access services is comprised of Central Scheduling, Outpatient
Registration, Admitting, Insurance Verification, Cashier and ED
Registration and Reception. Some benchmarks that we are very proud
+ Average wait/registration time is 9 minutes, compared to the
national average of 11 minutes
+ 60% of the Access Services are nationally Certified Healthcare
+ Outpatient Registration/Scheduling and ED Registration have been
in the 90th percentile for the last 10 years
This department works closely as a team as a part of our revenue
cycle management division.
+ Registers each account in hospital registration system following
all departmental procedures to ensure compliance with state and
+ Obtains and determines the coordination of benefits and
accurately inputs into computer software system following industry
standards anddepartmental procedure.
+ Clearly documents in computer system all communication with
patients, family members, insurance companies and physicians.
Documents anyexceptions to standard procedure.
+ Completes quality checks and reviews each registration for
correct information. Seeks assistance and plans corrective
+ Supports supervisor in the gathering of quality data for quality
reports and monitoring on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
+ Serves as technical resource/liaison for all departments to
resolve or escalate issues pertaining to phones, printers, copiers,
computers and scanners.
+ Responsible for maintaining staffing levels in each department.
Responsible for doing schedules, covering callouts and vacancies.
Redirects staffing toensure efficient workflow and quality customer
+ Assists supervisors in the recruitment, retention and training of
+ Assists supervisors in implementing training for new employees
and educate new staff on all policies and procedures.
+ Responsible for supporting management efforts as an advocate for
change and presents positive influence to staff to initiate
+ Performs duties of the access associate when necessary due to
volume and coverage.
+ Monitors office supplies and maintains inventory.
+ Acts as role model for staff for exemplary customer service and
+ Responsible for auditing all self pays in Passport.
+ Responsible for accurate and timely transmission of all animal
bite information to the County Health Department.
+ Responsible for updated times daily for MAB patients.
+ Performs other duties as directed by Access Supervisors on a
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent required or minimum 5 years'
experience in healthcare related clerical position in lieu of
+ Minimum two years medical experience preferably in Admitting,
Registration, Scheduling or Insurance/Billing areas required.
+ Knowledge of medical terminology and strong customer service
