Job Description:
Regeneron seeks a leader in skeletal muscle physiology and
biology to head its research and therapeutic development team. This
group uses various cutting-edge molecular cell biology, genetic,
and transcriptomic profiling techniques, as well as genetic animal
models to understand muscle physiology and pathophysiology at the
cellular and molecular level. This group is committed to
understanding the fundamental molecular mechanisms of muscle
development and function aiming to identify new therapeutic and
diagnostic platforms for a range of muscle degenerative diseases
and inflammatory conditions. This leadership role requires a deep
expertise in skeletal muscle biology, preferably with some
experience in translational research and therapeutic development.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication
skills and the ability to inspire multidisciplinary teams to
achieve ambitious scientific goals. Specifically, they provide
strategic guidance, driving technological advancement, and
critically assessing data and projects across the preclinical
scientific team. In addition, the candidate would be able to
participate and contribute to clinical trial design and work with
key opinion leaders. The position encompasses progressing drug
targets from discovery through clinical development, as well as
representation of Regenerons Muscle Therapeutics strategy to both
Senior Leadership and externally. A Typical Day May Include:
Establish the strategic vison and framework for muscle biology
research, including identification of new therapeutic
targetsparticularly for genetic diseasesand incorporation of
emerging technologies and scientific developments into the research
pipeline. Work and direct a team of scientists to design complex in
vitro (cell culture) and in vivo (innovative animal model) studies
investigating muscle development, physiological and metabolic
function, regeneration, and disease mechanisms. Supervise talented
scientists, research associates, and technical professionals to
deliver high-caliber, rigorous, and impactful research results.
Careful analysis of results and Lead and set clear short- and
long-term objectives to ensure the production of quality scientific
output are in alignment with team and therapeutic area goals.
Oversee project workflows, making critical decisions regarding
project continuation, and facilitating the efficient transition of
drug targets through developmental stages. Actively engage in
cross-functional, and leadership meetings, contributing expertise
in muscle cell biology and advocating the teams vision. Work with
Global Development and Clinical teams to deliver on innovative
trial design, analysis of results with an aim of speed to approval.
Work with KOL and advocacy groups to elevate our standing in the
field and our therapeutic approaches. Promote collaboration between
therapeutic areas and technology groups, fostering relationships
and utilizing resources to enhance research outcomes. Mentor team
members by supporting their professional growth and development.
Review and authorize muscle-related documentation, including
regulatory submissions, manuscripts, and contracts. This role might
be for you if you have: Experience with cutting-edge technologies
and their application to muscular disorders such as genetic
targeting with siRNA, shRNA, CRISPR/Cas9, AAVs is advantageous
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the
ability to articulate scientific concepts and strategic vision.
Proven leadership, managerial, and mentorship abilities and the
ability to work in a matrix environment. Experience in group
administration, including budget and organizational management.
Exposure to drug development or regulated activities is highly
desirable and working in a matrix organization. Strong professional
network, publication record, and national/international reputation
preferred. To be considered for this position, we are looking for:
PhD in Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Human Biology,
Human Skeletal or Exercise Physiology, or a related discipline.
Extensive cellular and molecular biology expertise in muscle
biology and metabolism is desirable. Minimum of 6 years post-PhD
experience and at least 5 years in industry or translational
